Fathered is a metaphorical journey of spirituality.  Brittney Davis parallels the endearing relationship she sheared with her now departed father with the relationship she is continually experiencing with God, the Father.  She reveals to readers how having a close-knit, loving, supportive, corrective, and protective experience with her natural father helped her understand how God shows himself as Father to us in ways we sometimes don't recognize.  God is not a detached ruler in the heavens who looks down in judgement--he is present and his heart beats for his children.
